One aircraft was forced down, crashing, burning, and killing one crew member, SP5 Joseph McCloyn, and wounding two others. The ground force swept to the downed aircraft. B Troop's Blues were inserted to reinforce the other 7/17th Cav forces. Enroute to the downed LOH, the ground force received heavy fire. Returning the fire, A Troop killed 4 NVA and destroyed one machine gun. Contact was soon broken and all elements were lifted out. The Honor Roll section states that SP5 McCloyn was flying as a door gunner in an OH-6A.
