 Description: During the period 22 - 29 Feb, the 7/17th Cav Squadron supported operation MACARTHUR by providing aerial reconnaissance in AO's in the vicinity of Plei Mrong and Kontum city in support of TF 1/22, the 173d Abn, and the 2d Bde, 4th Inf Div. During this period the Squadron detected part of the enemy elements infiltrating in the Plei Mrong area. This action triggered the movement of the 173d Abn Bde to the Kontum area. During this period the Squadron accounted for 32 NVA/VC KIA and 7 POWs. It also captured 4,250 rounds of SA ammo, 215 rounds of AW ammo, 5 individual and 6 crew served weapons, 41 packs some of which contained valuable documents and over 100 lbs of medical supplies.
