Description: The following is an edited version from the weekly Vietnam Communique column in the 9 Mar 1968 issue. Approximately 450 Vietnamese citizens attended three Vietnamese language entertainment films shown recently by an audio visual team from the 4th PsyOps Group at Xom Moi-Go Vap, a Saigon area orphanage-refugee center. The team also played 30 minutes of music for the audience. Later, the team traveled to the Vietnamese Ordnance School where two films were shown to over 450 students, staff members and dependents. The 4th Group's "Bomb Squad" packed 66 aerial containers with 2,300,000 leaflets for high altitude air-drops during the week of Feb 18-24. In addition, squad members boxed and shipped 6.4 million leaflets - 6.2 million to the 7th PsyOps Battalion, and 200,000 to the 8th PsyOps Battalion. Members of the 8th PsyOps Battalion disseminated approximately 5 million leaflets during 22 aerial missions in support of the 4th Inf Div; 1st Cav Div; 173rd Abn Bde; 101st Abn Div, and the 22nd ARVN Div operating in the II Corps. The battalion also logged 13 hours of taped Chieu Hoi (Open Arms) and surrender appeals. Soldiers of the 6th PsyOps Battalion at Bien Hoa distributed 2,434,000 leaflets and did over 11 hours of loudspeaker broadcasts in flights throughout Long An, Bien Hoa, Phuoc Long and Binh Duong Provinces.
