Description: The following is an edited version from the weekly Vietnam Communique column in the 27 July 1968 issue. The 101st Abn Div killed 49 enemy during the week's fighting. The major action came when the 101st and PF soldiers combined efforts in Operation Nevada Eagle. Troopers from a company of the 1/502nd Abn joined forces with PFs from the Quang Dien District to conduct reconnaissance operations nine miles NW of Hue. During the mission contact was made with a reinforced enemy platoon. After the enemy withdrew, a sweep of the battlefield was made and 23 enemy bodies were found; 19 of which were credited to the PF soldiers. In other action, the 1/501st Abn killed five NVA soldiers in two brief clashes and an element of the 2/327th Inf killed two more enemy in scattered actions.
