326 MED 101 ABN was a US Army unit
Primary service involved, US Army
South Vietnam
Location, Gia Le
Description: The 50th Med Det reported many changes during the month as part of the unit's assignment to the 101st Air Cavalry Div as part of its change from an airborne to an airmobile div. The Newsletter also mentioned the change of command plus the departure and arrival of personnel. With their coverage of the 101st in northern I Corps, they have five ships at the home base, Camp Eagle, and one ship on 24 hour stand-by at FSB SALLY, about five miles northwest of Hue. Their flying was about equally divided between the flat delta country near the coast and the mountains to the west. They continued to improve their living quarters. The unit shower was completed with eight shower heads, facilities for shaving and space for washing clothes. July brought another happy event; 'Hooch Maids.' The unit had been named 'SMALL BUT MIGHTY' but adopted the call sign EAGLE DUSTOFF. The unit still only had 6 aircraft versus the 12 authorized for an air ambulance platoon.
