Location, near Ban Don
Description: A/7/17 Cav reported their Scouts spotted approximately 100 NVA on top of a mountain. Immediately the Guns rolled in and numerous air strikes were called in. The next day a CIDG element made a sweep of the area. From the amount of blood and flesh in the area it was estimated at least 30 NVA had been killed and wounded. Following the trail, the Scouts found 30 to 40 NVA and received intense AW fire. Two air strikes were put in resulting in 6 secondary explosions with smoke rising 100 feet in the air. Later, intelligence revealed this was an NVA heavy weapons company.
