In a week of moderate action soldiers of the 25th Inf Div killed 72 enemy soldiers and found the bodies of 150 others killed in earlier action. Infantrymen of the 4/23rd Inf guarding FSB Rawlings east of Tay Ninh counted 27 enemy bodies after they had repulsed a ground and mortar attack. They recovered three machineguns and ammunition for mortars and small arms as well as grenades and bangalore torpedoes. Two wounded suspects were detained. There were no U.S. fatalities in the encounter but 15 Americans were wounded. Sweeping the area of an earlier contact near Trang Bang, elements of the 2/506th Abn, 101st Abn Div operating under the control of the 25th found the bodies of 86 enemy soldiers killed previously. Mortar and small arms ammunition were also found. Seventeen suspects were detained.
