Description: The 282nd AHC unit history reported early in the morning the ALLEYCATS were scrambled to an area four miles west of Hoi An. Elements of the 51st ARVN Regt reported heavy contact and were receiving casualties from an unknown mortar position and AW fire. The gunships flew 40 sorties throughout the day and were responsible for the destruction of the 82mm mortar and two AWs as well as 40 enemy KBAs.
