Description: The following is an edited version from the weekly Vietnam Communique column in the 21 Sep 1968 issue.
Soldiers of the 1st Cav Div killed 23 enemy soldiers in light action. In Operation Jeb Stuart III a FAC working with the 1/5th Cav called in artillery and airstrikes on a group of soldiers in the jungle 12 miles south of Quang Tri. Eight NVA soldiers were killed in the action. Troopers of the 5/7th Cav found the bodies of six NVA soldiers during a search-and-clear operation in the mountains 19 miles west of Hue. The enemy had apparently been killed by artillery.
