Description: The following is an edited version from the weekly Vietnam Communique column in the 12 Oct 1968 issue.
Tropic Lightning soldiers of the 25th Inf Div killed 52 enemy in light contact during the week. Units of the 101st Abn Div, attached to the 25th Inf, engaged an estimated 15 enemy troops shortly before midnight five miles east of Trang Bang and received enemy small arms and RPG fire. Backed by a helicopter light fire team, the troopers killed two of the enemy. While in night ambush positions, soldiers of the 2/14th Inf opened up on a VC force SW of Cu Chi killing 10 enemy. During a later sweep of the contact site, the company received sporadic small arms and automatic weapons fire which continued until daybreak.
