Description: B/7/17 Cav began a six day operation around Bao Loc to support the 3/503 Inf, 173d ABN and 2d ARVN Ranger Group operations. The first day was spent locating possible LZs and inserting two mercenary companies on various hill tops west of the city. The second and third days were spent locating a suspected VC logistical area and inserting elements of the 173d ABN and Rangers to encircle the area. During the fourth, fifth, and sixth days the Troop conducted screens to the north, west, and south of the allied ground units. The results of this operation were not as productive as desired but were still considered a success. 1,800 pounds of rice was captured, 40 structures destroyed, 6 large bags of clothing, 200 rounds of AK-47 ammo, and 11 detainees were taken.
