Description: The 361st AWC reported while supporting MACV SOG CCC missions from the FOB II base the unit experienced its first aircraft loss when CPT Goldman and WO1 Clotfelter were shot down while covering a slick ship downed by a 37mm AA weapon. Their rescue was the result of a high degree of team work with their wing, CPT Higgins. CPT Goldman directed the fire power of his wingship onto enemy approaching his downed aircraft. On approach of the pickup ship, CPT Goldman and WO1 Clotfelter started suppressive fire from their personnal weapons. The pickup was successful.
