Description: The following is an edited version from the weekly Vietnam Communique column in the 13 Jan 1969 issue. Light action was reported for the past week by the 4th Infantry Division soldiers as they killed 10 enemy. Soldiers of the 4th Div found a large enemy munitions cache during light activity on Dec 23. A division patrol operating nine miles west of Camp Enari came across a small enemy base camp. A search revealed several rounds of ammunition, five Claymore mines, and a small quantity of rice. Elsewhere, an estimated 20 enemy were observed in the open two and one-half miles north of Ben Het. Division artillery and mortar fire were directed on the position, reportedly killing eight of the enemy. Elements from the 1/69th Armor killed one VC in a skirmish along Highway 509, 17 miles west of Pleiku.
