Description: The following is an edited version from the weekly Vietnam Communique column in the 20 Jan 1969 issue.
Soldiers from the 9th Inf Div experienced heavy contact the past week, killing 299 enemy. On Dec 30 infantrymen of the 9th Div operating in the Mekong Delta killed 23 VC in scattered contacts. The previous day, soldiers of the 9th Division and supporting elements reported killing 36 VC in scattered contacts. Riflemen from the 3/47th Inf killed two VC after receiving automatic weapons fire while extracting troops during airmobile operations 15 miles south of Dong Tam.
