Description: The following is an edited version from the weekly Vietnam Communique column in the 20 Jan 1969 issue. Paratroopers from the 173rd Abn Bde killed four enemy soldiers during a week of light action. In action eight miles west of An Khe, soldiers of the 1/503 Abn, under the operational control of the 173rd Abn, thwarted an attempted ambush of a truck convoy along Route 19, killing three VC and capturing one crew served weapon. Elsewhere, paratroopers located 6,000 pounds of rice and 500 pounds of medical supplies in three caches 15 miles northwest of An Khe.
