Description: The following is an edited version from the weekly Vietnam Communique column in the 27 Jan 1969 issue. Soldiers from the 4th Inf Div experienced light contact during the week as they killed 13 enemy. Three enemy were killed and eight bodies were found in scattered actions in the Central Highlands on Jan 7. A division recon patrol observed 10 enemy dressed in black pajamas and green fatigues 21 miles southeast of Camp Enari. Artillery was called in, killing three of the enemy. On Jan 13 soldiers of the 4th Div and supporting elements killed three enemy and found a small rice cache. Flying 14 miles north of Plai Bjereng, helicopter crews from C/7/17th Air Cav spotted a recently used boat dock. Later the crews sighted enemy movement along a trail near the dock and engaged the enemy, killing one. Other squadron elements found 1,200 pounds of rice along the Ia Bong River 12 miles southeast of Camp Enari.
