Description: The following is an edited version from the weekly Vietnam Communique column in the 27 Jan 1969 issue. Gunship crews of the 282d AHC, 212th CAB were active near Da Nang Jan 11. A forward air controller flying along the Hoi An River 15 miles south of Da Nang spotted four enemy sampans and called in a gunship. The supply laden sampans were engaged with rockets and automatic weapons. Four enemy were reported killed and two sampans destroyed. One secondary explosion was also observed. Gunship crews from the 134th AHC, 17th CAG reported killing 11 enemy Jan 12 while supporting an element of the 173rd Abn Bde north of Tuy Hoa.
