Description: The following is an edited extract from the 1/52 Inf S2/3 Journal.
At 0822hrs D Co. reports on airlift of their elements from LZ Bowman to LZ Young. The first PZ was a 0822hrs and the first LZ 0827hrs with the last LZ at 0847hrs.
0901hrs Minuteman 592 reported the C&C Aircraft near BT166044 engaged 3 enemy with packs, 2 in black and 1 in green uniforms. Results: 2 VC KIA. Enemy in green escaped into river.
1050hrs C Co. reported one of its elements at BT162102 reported being pinned down by M79 & AK47 from approximately 40 enemy wearing green uniforms with weapons and rucksacks at grid BT161104. They had 1 NVA KIA so far and requested gunships from Brigade. 1055hrs 2 US WHA slight shrapnel wounded in back. 1058hrs artillery fired. 1058hrs C&C on station. 1115hrs Warlords on station, broke station 1200hrs. The previously pinned down element checked area with no significant results.
1215hrs a utility helicopter supporting this unit received several rounds of sniper fire from BT238113.
