Description: In support of DEWEY CANYON, the 1st Bn, 9th Marines was committed into the center of the line and the Marines moved further out of their bases toward the Laotian border. MACV intelligence indicated that the NVA had ringed the deeper LZ sites with heavy AA weapons so the Marines used the foot approach to clear the areas as they moved.
