Description: The following is an edited extract from the 1/52 Inf S2/3 Journal.
0800hrs D Co. at BT187125 received automatic weapons fire including several machine guns from BT190125 approximate range 200 meters. Returned small arms fire and artillery. With a FAC on station to attempt airstrike. 0810hrs gnships requested from Brigade. 0815hrs 3 US wounded due to hostile action, names Terry E. Godfrey with 3 gunshot wounds in the arm, Kenneth Dechene with gunshot wound in leg and Wilmer Wynia with gunshot wound in hand. 0820hrs Believed enemy base at BT194139. FAC will attempt airstrike with bombs. Will napalm BT190125. 0835hrs gunships on station, broke station at 0858hrs. 0858hrs dustoff complete, wounded taken to LZ Professional. 0807hrs requested routine dustoff 3 US wounded due to hostile action. 0910hrs first airstrike complete. 0935hrs observed secondary explosion. 1000hrs dustoff complete, patients taken to 27th Surg.
1430hrs a Warlord team reported on station. At 1455hrs they broke stations, results: BT195117 19 rocket pads destroyed also 4 hootches engaged & destroyed. BT202132 3 camouflage hootches destroyed. BT196144 3 military age males in green uniforms evaded into hootch. Hootch engaged and destroyed. Results unknown. Also observed packs and rice bags. BT203129 5 camouflage hootches destroyed.
