A-244 SF DET was a US Army unit

Description: After sending 639 rounds of mixed artillery and mortar fire into the Ben Het CIDG camp, a battalion from the 66th NVA Regt supported by ten PT-76 tanks attacked the west hill held by a CIDG company reinforced by several American M-48 tanks. The NVA tanks drove straight up the road into a minefield which stopped two. Tank cannon, artillery, and airstrikes defeated the rest. This was the first and only tank to tank battle of the war.
