Description: On D+3 of operation ATLAS WEDGE, the aero rifle platoon, ACT, 11th ACR became pinned down in two bomb craters by a large horseshoe-shaped fortification complex of the 320th NVA Regt. Trps L and M, 3rd Sqdn came to the rescue and became involved in a ptched battle. Four tanks were destroyed. The Sqdn CO landed his helicopter and directed the attack from the final tank. This attack swept through the NVA bunkers and then back again. After this, the Troops retrieved what equipment they could, established an NDP and evacuated their wounded.
