Description: Night two of the battle at FSB Crook was almost a repeat of the previous night. The radar and seismic sensors detected movement. At 0200 a 25th Avn Night Nawk detected large groups of NVA moving toward the base on a road and artillery was shifted to these formations. At 0300 the base was hit with a 150 rocket and mortar shell per minute barrage for 90 minutes. Then two bns from the 88th NVA Regt attacked from the tree lines on the north. The attackers were immediately strafed by helicopters and blasted by the base's weapons. Artillery and an AC-119 blasted the attackers as they neared the outer wire. Even the retreat was subjected to relentless fire. At 0530 night two of this battle was over with hundreds of NVA dead on the field.
