Operation TOAN THANG 44
Cambodia
Description: Task Force Shoemaker, named for the 1st Cav Div's deputy commander, begins TOAN THANG (TOTAL VICTORY) #44 in the Fishhook area of Cambodia. Under the command of the 1st Cav Div were the 3rd Brigade, 1st ARVN Airborne Div and 1st ARVN Armored Cavalry and the 11th ACR, 3d Brigade, 1st Cav reinforced by the 2/34th Armor and the 2/47th Inf. The 1/9th Air Cav provided the earily reconnaisance. This force conducted a combined air and ground assault to clean out enemy sanctuaries between Mimot and Pang in Cambodia.
