COMMANDER'S MESSAGE by COL John Bergner
The 34th General Support Group (Aircraft Maintenance and Supply) is approaching the end of its fifth year of operations in the Republic of Vietnam. The Group has evolved from a conceptually unique idea-a theater-wide aircraft maintenance and supply operation under a unified command. It is the only such unit in Army history.
The unprecedented nature of the Group's mission has challenged us to be innovative and responsive. We have continually strived to both improve service to our customers and save time and money while doing so. Some of these improvements are highlighted in the following pages.
The outstanding success we have achieved would not, of course, have been possible without the dedicated and skilled efforts of the approximately 5,000 military and 2,000 civilian personnel assigned to Group units throughout Vietnam. As the Commanding Officer of the 34th Group and former Commander of the Aviation Materiel Management Center (AMMC), I extend my heartfelt appreciation to you for your efforts.
Our mission to "Keep 'Em Flying" continues. Past accomplishments and successes will be the springboard for those yet to come.
