Engineer Command
A truck convoy of the 18th Engineer Brigade was ambushed by an undetermined-size enemy force during the morning of Feb. 9 14 miles northwest of Phan Rang in Ninh Thuan Province of Military Region 2. The enemy employed a mechanical detonation and small arms fire. Convoy security elements returned fire with unknown results. One U.S. soldier was killed and one wounded. Materiel damage was light.
