Shortly after noon Feb. 20 in Military Region 2, helicopter gunships of the 1st Aviation Brigade, assigned to IFFV on a visual reconnaissance mission 29 miles west of Kontum City, received small arms and automatic weapons fire from an undetermined-size enemy force in a hut and bunker complex. The gunships engaged the enemy with onboard ordnance and called in U.S. Air Force tactical air strikes to support the action. Nineteen of the enemy were killed, four bunkers and three huts destroyed. There were no friendly casualties in either action.
