Laos
A U.S. Army CH-47 helicopter crashed from unknown causes and was destroyed in the lower panhandle of Laos on the evening of Feb. 15. Five U.S. personnel were killed and one is missing. One Feb. 18, three U.S. Army helicopters were hit by enemy ground fire, crashed and were destroyed in the lower panhandle of Laos. Two U.S. personnel were wounded in the crash of an AH1 helicopter, four were wounded in the crash of a UH1 helicopter and three are missing in the crash of a OH6 helicopter. A U.S. Army UH1 helicopter and three are missing in the crash of an OH6 helicopter. A U.S. Army UH1 helicopter was hit by enemy ground fire, crashed and was destroyed in the lower panhandle during the afternoon of Feb. 20. The four U.S. crewmen are missing. Another UH1 helicopter was also hit in the same area that afternoon and the four crewmen are also missing. Still another U.S. Army UH1 helicopter was hit by enemy ground fire, crashed and was destroyed in the lower panhandle the next afternoon. Two U.S. crewmen were wounded in the crash.
