In air operations over Cambodia in support of Operation Toan Thang 01/71 on the morning of March 2, helicopter gunships of the 1st Cav. received 12.7mm antiaircraft fire from three gun positions 15 miles east of Kompong Cham City. The gun positions were engaged with onboard ordnance resulting in six enemy killed. There were no friendly casualties. In Kompong Cham Province of Cambodia on the afternoon of March 5, helicopter gunships of the 1st Cav. received ground fire while operating seven miles northeast of Kompong Cham. The gunships engaged the enemy and killed five. One U.S. crew member was wounded in the action.
