In Kontum Province of Military Region 2 on the afternoon of Feb. 28, helicopter gunships of the 1st Aviation Brigade, assigned to IFFV, engaged 15 enemy in an area 33 miles west-northwest of Kontum City. Eleven of the enemy were killed and there were no friendly casualties. Within an hour, the same gunship element engaged five enemy 35 miles west-northwest of the city. All five were killed and there were no friendly casualties. On the morning of March 2, an element of the 1st, also assigned to IFFV, observed 30 enemy in an open area 28 miles northwest of Kontum City. The gunships used onboard ordnance to kill 22 of the enemy. There were no friendly casualties.
