In Binh Thuan Province on the morning of March 1, a U.S. engineer convoy was ambushed 11 miles north-northwest of Phan Thiet on Highway QL1. The undetermined-size enemy force employed small arms and rocket-propelled grenade fire. The action resulted in three enemy killed and two individual weapons captured. Friendly casualties were one killed and two wounded.
