More detail on this person: Col. LeRoy Russell ''Roy'' Buckman of Marco Island, Fla., formerly of Middletown, died May 29 in Florida. He was 69.

Born in Middletown, he had a long and distinguished career in the U.S. Army, retiring as a colonel. He was a helicopter pilot and instructor; served a tour of duty in Korea and two tours in Vietnam and was assigned to the Army General Staff at the Pentagon for three years.

After retirement, he and his wife resided at their home in Cheshire, England, in the summer and Marco Island in the winter.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Buckman.

Services were held in Marco Island, Fla., and burial will be at 11 a.m. on Aug. 18 in Arlington National Cemetery.
