More detail on this person: Edward Dinkins Jr. MANNING - Services for Edward Dinkins Jr., 48, will be held today at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Manning, with burial in Manning Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church, Tuomey Regional Hospital Hospice or American Cancer Society. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge. Mr. Dinkins died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 1995. Born in Manning, he was the son of Betty Nash Dinkins Smith and the late Edward Dinkins Sr. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was the owner of the Huddle House restaurants in Manning and Santee, served as a major in the Army Reserves and was a civil service employee. He was a coach for County Colt League and Laurence Manning Academy and a member of the American Legion Williams-Burgess Post 68, Manning Rotary Club, Masons and First Baptist Church of Manning. Surviving are his wife, Diane Huskins Dinkins; a daughter, Kristin Dinkins of Athens, Ga.; a son, Edward Dinkins of Manning; his mother and stepfather, George Smith of Manning; a brother, Claude Dinkins Sr. of Beaufort; stepsisters, Lane Kelley of Summerton and Margaret Geddings of Manning.
