More detail on this person: Don N. Hancock SANFORD -- Retired Army Maj. Don Nixon Hancock, 61, of 3022 Byrd Ave., died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004. Mr. Hancock was a helicopter pilot while serving in the Army. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Distinguished Flying Cross and three Purple Hearts. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home chapel in Sanford by Chaplain A.C. Parker. Mr. Hancock is survived by his wife, Nancy W. Hancock; a son, Sean M. Hancock of Pensacola, Fla.; a daughter, Cyndra C. Ratts of Colbert, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Dawn Dean of Sanford; three half sisters, Madge Coggins and Opal Nell Hanshaw, both of Sanford, and Shirley Lamm of Swanns Station; and two grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Operation Uplink, care of Veterans of Foreign Wars State Headquarters, P.O.Box 25337, Raleigh, NC 27611-5337.
