More detail on this person: Col Douglas Lamar Hutchens Colonel (ret) Douglas Lamar Hutchens, 86, born in Tallassee, AL on October, 10, 1926, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at Wursthoff Hospital, Melbourne, FL. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, their three children, a brother, eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Doug was a graduate of Auburn University and Florida Institute of Technology. He retired as a U.S. Army Colonel, having served for 32 years in aviation, procurement and project management. After retirement from the military he took a teaching position at DeKalb Junior College, retiring as a tenured professor in 1997 and moving to Melbourne, FL. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church at Viera, where a Funeral Service was held on Saturday, January 5, 2013.
