More detail on this person: James Julian Lockhart was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 17, 2019, after a short illness. He was the second of five children.

Jim was joined in holy matrimony to Ruby Lee Jackson on Nov. 5, 1950. Ruby preceded Jim in death in 1988.

Jim was a pilot and flight instructor, and served in the military for more than 20 years. His final rank was that of Chief Warrant Officer. Following Jim's military career, he was employed as a Quality Assurance Manager with Pressure Systems, Inc., in Hampton, Va.

Jim was a longtime member of Union Baptist Church, where he was head of the Deacon Board for 12 years. He later joined St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church, where he served as Junior Warden before he was elected as Senior Warden. Jim was a licensed Eucharist Minister and Lay Reader/Chalice Bearer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2010, at St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. at Carter Funeral, Inc., 251 Richneck Road, Newport News, VA 23608, Phone: 757-872-6696. Burial will follow at Hampton National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
