More detail on this person: Maj Wallace J McGuire Wallace J. McGuire, Ret. Maj. US Army, age 84, passed away April 11, 2013 at his home following a lengthy illness. Born September 5, 1928 in Kentucky, he was the son of Joel and Verna Emerson McGuire. On August 11, 1951 in Lebanon, KY, he married the former Eldean Gentry, who survives. Mr. McGuire proudly served in the United States Army for over 21 years, retiring as a Major in 1963. He later went on to work as a building inspector with both Prince William County and Fairfax County, as well as a private engineering firm in the Northern Virginia area. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Surviving besides his beloved wife of 61 years, Eldean McGuire of Manassas, are two children, Linda Rhoades and her husband Allan of Palm Bay, Fl; Michael J. McGuire and his wife Elizabeth of Callao, VA; five grandchildren, Rachel, Gordon, and Nicholas McGuire; Jon Rhoades and Elizabeth Marsh; and six great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends on Monday, April 15, 2013 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Todd Tennant officiating. Graveside and interment services, with military honors will immediately follow in Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas, VA. Memorial contributions may take the form of a donation to Alzheimer's Association, National Capital Area Chapter, 3701 Pender Drive, Suite 100, Fairfax, Virginia 22030.
