More detail on this person: Thomas A Meekins Jr. KITTY HAWK T.A. "Tommy" Meekins Jr., chief warrant officer-4, U.S. Army retired, 53, died Aug. 15, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Meekins, born in Jarvisburg, N.C., was retired after 25 years of service from the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was currently employed with East Coast Communications. He was a member of the First Flight Military Officers Association and the American Legion Post. He was the son of Thomas A. Meekins Sr. and Violet Keller Meekins of Kitty Hawk. Besides his parents, Mr. Meekins is survived by his wife, Nancy Ward Meekins of the residence; a daughter, Carrie Meekins Dilworth and husband Don of Avon, N.C.; two sons, Ryan Thomas Meekins and wife Tiffany of Avon and Byron Keith Shaw of Nags Head; a sister, Karen Meekins Friel and husband Dr. Patrick Friel of Acton, Mass; a brother, Douglas C. Meekins and wife Martha of Kitty Hawk; one grandchild, Liam Thomas Dilworth of Avon; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins. A funeral will be held at Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Richard Stone and the Rev. Brad Bradshaw officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Austin Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times at the residence of Thomas Alston Meekins Sr., 4233 Bob Perry Road, Kitty Hawk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo is assisting the family with arrangements
