Mr Joseph Brent Or Joe Pickett, 48 OBITUARIES Gazette, The (Colorado Springs, CO) - Thursday, November 22, 1990 JOSEPH BRENT "JOE" PICKETT, 48, of Security died Monday at Lake Charles, La. He was a helicopter pilot for Petroleum Helicopter, Inc. Of Lake Charles. Mr. Pickett had also served in the Army for 21 years, with 14 of those years as a helicopter pilot. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. Highway 85/87 in Fountain. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Soldiers Memorial Chapel, Fort Carson, with Capt. Duane Daugherty officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Fountain. Mr. Pickett was born Dec. 18, 1941, in St. George, Utah, to Robert and Angenette (Lund) Pickett, who survive. He lived in the Pikes Peak region for 12 years and had also resided in Hawaii. Mr. Pickett served in the Army from 1960 to 1981 and had attained the rank of chief warrant officer. He was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War and had received the Vietnam Service Medal with five bronze stars, the Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and the Distinguished Flying Cross, among others. He was a Mormon. Mr. Pickett was married May 22, 1963, in Clarksville, Tenn., to Margie (Travis) Pickett, who survives. He also is survived by a son, Michael Brent of Security; two daughters, Terry Alene Pound and Angenette Mullet, both of Security; a brother, Robert Pickett of Rigby, Idaho; a sister, Genette McCulloch of Sandy, Utah; and two grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 4200 E. Ninth Ave., B-140, Denver 80260.
