More detail on this person: OV-1 Mohawk crash at Ft. Huachuca, AZ. 17 MAR 76 2LT Lyle S. Pinson [MP] CW2 James L. Crowe [CP] Arizona 159 MI (GA ARNG) OV-1C #60-3761 A/C crashed at Ft Huachuca while on a MTF and an Annual Instrument Renewal check ride. A/C declared emergency with #1 engine out, jettisoned drop tanks at 4000' AGL and 90-95 KIAS and crashed 1.9 mi from the end of the runway. Crew members sustained fatal injuries, one by crash forces and the other ejecting outside the safe envelope for ejection. 2LT Lyle S Pinson CW2 Crowe was one of two killed when their Grunman OV-1C Mohawk (60-03761) crashed 1.9 miles short of the runway at Ft Huachuca, AZ after radioing the tower that Engine #1 was out. They were with the 159th Military Intelligence Company of the Georgia Army National Guard based at Dobbins AFB in Marietta, GA. It was an Annual Instrument Renewal check ride. He was flying with 2nd LT Lyle S Pinson. CW2 Crowe is represented on the Remembrance Rug by symbol #6033.
