More detail on this person: Published in Reno Gazette-Journal on Nov. 13, 2013 ******************************************* Frank "Roper" Shaw, Jr. Stewart Frank Shaw Stewart Jr., age 70, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2003 at his residence in Winnemucca, NV. with his loved ones by his side, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Frank was born June 26, 1933 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Frank Shaw Stewart, Sr. and Anne Thacker Stewart. He was a graduate of Lovelock High School, earning a Harold Club scholarship to the University of Nevada, Reno. At the University of Nevada he completed ROTC training and was commissioned as a 2nd lt. In the US Army. Frank met the love of his life, Sue Richardson, at the University Nevada, Reno on a blind date in October, 1954. They were married at the Double Diamond Ranch in Reno, NV on August 20, 1955 sharing 48 years together. He served in the US Army for 21 years and retired as a Lt. Col. He served two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot and company commander of B troop. Frank was a bus driver for Humboldt County School District and was loved by the kids, as he loved them. He was proud of having some special needs kids on the school bus and he loved his out of town trips with coaches and players. He is survived by his wife Sue R. Stewart of Winnemucca; daughters, Linda Hope, Susan Stewart, Stephanie Kelley, Laura Marshall; son, David Stewart of Sparks and Reno; and grandchildren, Robbie Altizer, Amber Marshall, Samantha Stewart, Liz Marshall and Blake Stewart. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 21, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church with Father Jose Issac officiating. Interment will follow at the Winnemucca Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Frank Stewart's memory to the American Cancer Society, Southwest Division, 2929 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85016-8034 or St. Paul's Catholic Church, 350 Melarkey St., Winnemucca, NV 89445.
