More detail on this person: David was a Major at the time of his death on 7/9/74. He took his commission into the USMC following graduation from US Naval Academy in 1967. He served three tours of duty in Viet Nam.

Dave's widow, Johanna, died just last December (2007). Dave was stationed at New River, NC after his last tour and just a few weeks after getting home was killed in a landing accident. The landing gear broke off due to a mal-function while doing some touch and goes. The week before, he and his co-pilot (and brother-in-law), John Pearson, broke a world's record by traveling non-stop cross country in an OV-10, the plane he died in.

Dave is buried at Arlington. So long ago and yet so fresh in my memory.
