More detail on this person: Earl Trofimuk Mr. Earl Trofimuk, age 60, of Ranger, passed away December 2, 2006, at Gordon Hospital following several years of declining health. He was born in Butler, Pennsylvania on November 3, 1946. While playing high school football, he was nicknamed "The Mad Russian" by his coach. Mr. Trofimuk was a veteran of the US Army, and had been an elevator technician before becoming disabled. He served with the 190th Assault Helicopter Company in Vietnam and had attained the rank of Captain. He had been awarded the Air Medal with four clusters and two citations, the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal, and had been nominated for the Distinguished Flying Cross. He piloted Mrs. Richard Nixon around Vietnam during her visit, and also actress Martha Raye. Survivors include a cousin, Mary Roberts, of Canton; friends, Joe and Sharon Holiday of Kennesaw; Kevin and Brenda Allen of Ranger; Jackie Boots, Russ and Pamela Zeigler, and many other friends and acquaintances in the Ranger area. Graveside services for Mr. Earl Trofimuk will be held Friday, December 8, at 10:00am, at Chandler Cemetery. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Family owned and operated Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home of Calhoun is in charge of the funeral arrangements for Mr. Earl Trofimuk, of Ranger.
