More detail on this person: Walter Urbach, Jr., 80 Sun City West Independent (AZ) - Wednesday, April 29, 2015 Walter Urbach Jr, 80, passed away Apr. 13, 2015. Walter was born in Chicago, Ill. to Walter and Laura Urbach on Jul. 21, 1934. Walter is survived by his sister, JB Brantley; two former wives; Toby Joy Urbach of Annandale, Va. and Nancy Blum Urbach of Sun City West; five children, Walter Urbach III, Debra Urbach Krueger, Connie Jean Urbach, Andrew B. Schneeweiss, and Daniel H. Schneeweiss; and nine grandchildren. His parents and his daughter, Donna Lee Urbach, preceded him in death. Colonel Urbach proudly served in the U.S. Army and retired in 1986 after almost 31 years of service. Following his retirement from the military in 1986, he spent 5 years with Lockheed Missiles & Space Company working in a variety of jobs ranging from proposal writer, to Project Manager, and finally Sub-Contract Manager on the Solar Arrays for Space Station Freedom (now the International Space Station). After marrying Nancy Blum Schneeweiss in 1990, Walter retired from Lockheed in 1991. In 1994, he and Nancy relocated from Sunnyvale, Calif. to Sun City West where he was very active in Racquetball (Club President for 5 years), the Hemlock Society (later Death with Dignity -President for 7 years), and the Civil Air Patrol (Squadron Operations Officer for 12 years). As he started to wind down, he became the Western US representative for SportAir USA, a Light Sport Aircraft distributor and continued to fly under the Light Sport Aircraft rules.
