More detail on this person: John G Van Klooster 4 missing in Mediterranean JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - (AP) - One marine was killed and four others missing following the crash of a marine helicopter in the Mediterranean, military officials said here last night. A marine spokesman said the craft went down late Friday about 50 miles south of the Greek Island of Crete while on a routine training mission with the Sixth Fleet. Another Marine spokesman said the mission had nothing to do with the military situation in Cyprus. Killed was the copilot, 1st Lt. John G. Vanklooster. Missing at sea were 1st Lt. James M. White, Capt. Gregory C. Lee, Lance Cpl. Tony L. Peters and Cpl. Anthony W. Scheck. Injured were Maj. Edgar R. Stebbins and Capt. Lauren M. McKenzie. Some ships of the Sixth Fleet are headed toward Cyprus in case it becomes necessary to evacuate American citizens.
