More detail on this person: Richard Fred Wickboldt, Jr. died Saturday, March 31, 2012 in Slidell, Louisiana at age 65. Mr. Wickboldt was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 7, 1946. He grew up in Zachary and Baton Rouge and graduated from Lee High, and from LSU in Marketing and Business Administration. He retired from Sears in 2001 as a store manager in Biloxi, Mississippi with over 30 years of service. He was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam assigned to the GhostRiders, A company of the 158th Assault Helicopter Battalion of the 101st Airborne. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mabel and a son, Richard Fred Wickboldt, III (Liz) of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by 2 grandsons, Nicholas Wickboldt and Austin Wickboldt; a brother, Stephen Wickboldt (Alycea) of Baton Rouge; a brother, Paul Wickboldt of Houston, Texas; a sister, Caroline Zirilli of The Woodlands, Texas; and a step-mother, Roseanne Wickboldt of Baton Rouge. He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Fred Wickboldt, Sr. and his mother, Jean Newman Pfeifer. The family wishes to issue a sincere Thank You to the staff of Camellia Gardens in Slidell and Lakeshore Hospice for their loving care over the past six months. A celebration of life service will be held at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, 335 Asbury Drive, Mandeville, LA 70448 on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 2:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Timothy United Methodist Church or to the Walk To End Alzheimers at www.alz.org, under the Camellia Gardens Team, Mabel Wickboldt Walker.
