More detail on this person: EDWARD WEISENBURGER EDWARD WEISENBURGER Oklahoman, The (Oklahoma City, OK) - Tuesday, December 24, 2013 Weisenburger April 12, 1926 - Dec 22, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward John Weisenburger, 87, Oklahoma City, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, with his son, Bishop Edward Joseph Weisenburger, officiating. Mr. Weisenburger died on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, in Oklahoma City. A Committal Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lawton. Edward Weisenburger was born April 12, 1926, in Ellendale, North Dakota, to Henry and Katharina Bauder Weisenburger. He married Asella Marie "Sally" Walters, of Hays, Kansas, on July 1, 1955. They were married for 42 years when she passed away in 1998. He was married to Dasie Hufnagel from 2000 to 2008, and they remained close friends until his death. He was drafted into the Navy after graduating high school, and after two years of service, joined the Army. He served as an Army pilot until his retirement from the military in 1977, earning the rank of CWO-4 as well as numerous Army Air Medals and recognition for valor. He then worked as an electrician and taught basic electronics at Fort Sill until he fully retired in 1992. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lawton for more than 30 years. For the remainder of his life, he was a parishioner at Our Lady's Cathedral in Oklahoma City. Survivors include his sons: Timothy and wife Donna, Pittsburgh, PA; and Bishop Edward Weisenburger, Salina, KS; two daughters and their spouses: Mary and Don Jung, Yukon; and Adina and Karl Heller, Corinth, TX; a daughter-in-law, Mary Weisenburger, Houston, TX; six grandchildren, Adam Jung, Ashley Kastl, Kaitlin Jung, David Heller, Stephen Weisenburger, and Jillian Heller; four great-grandchildren; his former wife, Dasie Weisenburger; and a sister, Salma Mohr, Loma Linda, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sally; a daughter, Kathy; and several siblings. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Oklahoma City.
