More detail on this person: Dennis Raymond Westerlin Born August 16, 1930 Overton, Nebraska, passed away November 18, 2012. Grew up on a farm. Became a licensed pilot in 1962. Graduated from Helicopter flight school in 1965, Ft. Rucker, Alabama. Flew for Nebraska National Guard 1965-1984. Worked for the Nat'l Guard until 1968 when he took up crop dusting and became operator/manager of Holdrege Airport in 1969. He spent many years competing in Rifle and Pistol matches with the Nat'l Guard in Camp Perry, Ohio and Little Rock, Arkansas. Retired from Ne. National Guard as Chief Warrant Officer W4 after 34 years in 1984. Won U.S. Army distinguished Rifleman medal in 1958. He started registered trap shooting about 1978. Through the years he received many awards through the shooting programs both military and civilian. Inducted into the Az. Trap Shooters Hall of Fame 2004. Survived by his wife, Phyllis, of 50 years; daughter, Debra and son, Dana (Wendy); brothers-in-law, Myrl Ostgren (Patty) and Jim Ostgren (Deanna); sister-in- law, Sharon Carlson and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews. Services will be held at DESERT SUNSET FUNERAL HOME, 3081 W. Orange Grove Rd. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2012. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2012 with reception to follow. Burial will take place in Nebraska next week.
