Wheeler Jr., 77, of Lilly Mountain Road, Meadow Bridge, died March 15, 2010, at the Veterans Medical Center in Beckley, following a long illness. Born May 1, 1932, at Boomer, he was the son of the late Bud E. Wheeler and Emma Jane Canterbury Wheeler. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Coon, and brothers, Corbett Holstine and Jack R. Wheeler. Bud was a 25-year retired military veteran who obtained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CW4) as a helicopter pilot. He also retired from the coal mines. Surviving: his wife, Nellie D. Brown Wheeler of Meadow Bridge; his daughter, Jackie Sturgeon, husband Ricky and their children, Adam and Catherine, of Simpsonville, S.C.; his sons, Bud Edgar Wheeler III, wife Kathy, son Bud Edgar Wheeler IV and his granddaughter, Kaley Wheeler, of Fredericksburg, Va., George Allen Wheeler, wife Heather and daughter Brandi of Raleigh, N.C., and Lewis Wheeler, wife Genia and children Mackenzie and Grayson of Fountain Inn, S.C.; sisters, Betty Buckner of Fairmont, and Janet Lee Westman of Farmington, N.M.; and a brother, James R. Wheeler of El Paso, Texas. Memorial services were March 20, at Wallace & Wallace Chapel of Rainelle, with Rev. Carl Buckner officiating. He was to be cremated.
