More detail on this person: Maj. Billy Gayle Wilkison Maj. Billy Gayle Wilkison, 71, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, in Sedalia, Mo. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery with close friends officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Wilkison was a native of Amarillo and passed away from a heart attack. He served in the Marine Corps for 26 years. He retired as a career Marine aviator in 1972. After retirement he became a real estate broker and financial adviser. He resided in Orange County, Calif., and San Diego before returning to Amarillo in 1991 to enjoy retirement. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1948 and received a bachelor's degree from Mississippi University. He was involved in local motor home clubs and the National Family Motor Coach Association. He was president and national director of the local Caprock Cruisers Motor Home Club. He was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Jan; a son, Riley Russell Wilkison of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Regina Gail Shoemaker of Rolling Hills, Calif; an aunt, Twillie Mae Jarrell of San Jose, Calif.; a cousin, Nancy Brock of Las Vegas; two grandchildren, Bradley Shoemaker and Brittany Shoemaker, both of Rolling Hills, Calif.; and numerous cousins.
